Before I started blogging, I decided to hire a photographer. Funny enough, I just wanted to take photos for the gram. I didn’t know, when reaching out to my friend Christina for a photographer resource, I would eventually start a blog; I just knew I wanted to work with a photographer.
My first photographer was absolutely amazing, until he wasn’t but he showed me the ins-and-outs of blogger photography. He picked the right locations, found the right light, edited to perfection and even taught me how to pose. “Look here” , “look there”, “look up”, “look down”, “walk” ; were the commands he gave me as I awkwardly posed in the middle of a busy Soho street. The most ironic thing about my experience, with my first photographer, is that he didn’t speak english; anything is possible my friends.
We worked together for a solid year. He taught me the concepts of blogger photography for instance: shooting more than one look in an hour. He made me feel comfortable in front of the camera because shooting in front of millions of New Yorkers can be quite uncomfortable. So, if you are reading this because you want to take your ‘gram to the next level you must, must, must invest in photography.
