Do You Really Believe God?

When you pray, do you believe that God has the ability to answer your prayers? Do you believe that He is sovereign in His ways and that He will answer your prayers according to His perfect plan? Or do you doubt Him? Are you “…confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6) ? We cannot intellectualize God. We cannot make God, His plans, His thoughts, and His ways make sense to us.

We cannot intellectualize God Click To Tweet

I remember being in a season where everything I prayed for came to pass. I thought I had the “God thing” down to a science. I thought wrong. The minute my prayers weren’t being answered, like they had been before, I began to scratch my head and question everything. God brought this  scripture to my attention: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD “ Isaiah 55:8. How foolish of me to think I could intellectualize God. He doesn’t operate according to how we operate. Scripture says that His thoughts are far off from ours – “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts ”Isaiah 55:9.

God doesn’t think like you and I. He doesn’t act according to how we expect Him to. If we could figure God out, He wouldn’t be God. He is God because He operates in the supernatural, with the impossible, and not according to the world’s standards. He is holy, sovereign, righteous, and just. ” He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes 3:1

Is there anything too hard for God? The answer is no, there is nothing too hard for you God. You have to trust Him. I say this all the time: “there is no grey area with God!”. You are either going to trust Him or you are not. Guess what? God is not requiring that we have a whole lot of faith, He said with faith as small as a mustard seed we can do AMAZING things. Will you trust Him? Trusting God is not just trusting Him when things go as you’d like them to. Trusting God is believing He has your best interest at heart when things don’t go according to your plan. Do you know how much peace we would have in our lives if we just learned how to trust God?

So again: When you pray, do you believe that God has the ability to answer your prayers? Can you believe that He is sovereign in His ways and He will answer your prayers according to His perfect plan? Answer a strong: “YES, Lord I believe”.
