It’s a great feeling when black women can come together, in love, and support one another. I believe the natural hair movement was the catalyst to bring about unity among us. As some of us struggled to embrace our natural hair, we were fell in love with ourselves. The natural hair journey brought about a confidence, in us, that is remarkable.
Sharing our hair struggles and natural hair tips became a new part of our culture. “Hey girl, I love your hair!” and “What products do you use?” became a part of our language.
We embraced the beauty in not only our uniqueness but the uniqueness of our sisters. Women who are confident in themselves don’t feel the need to compete with one another!
We are better together.
Thank God for natural hair.

I recently cut my hair because it was damaged beyond repair. I’ve done the “big chop” before because of boredom. This time, the cut was for a different purpose and got me asking, “Will people like it?” “OMG, what are people (esp. guys) gonna say?” I started to feel self-conscious but now I see that this time around, it’ll be a lesson on self-love, regardless of what I look like! Thanks for the share!
