NYFW Day 1 and What I Love About Fashion

Who says you can’t wear Pastels in the Winter? I am like the anti-fashion fashion girl. When people asks me to describe my style, my answer is usually: ” I wear what I want”!

I’ve always had a rebellious spirit, believe it or not, and fashion has been the best way for me to creatively express this.

My father engrained this sense of style and fashion in me from youth. He never wanted people to look at us and know we were from the hood or poor. The best way to camouflage our struggle was through our appearance; this is something that stuck with me throughout life; I don’t do fashion because I’m vain but rather because I truly love the art of it! I love the feeling of putting on a brightly colored dress and perusing through these New York City streets. I love the feeling I get when a statement piece I’m wearing sparks a conversation with a stranger.
