Why You’re Better Off Waiting on God

It seems as if the biggest struggle for us is waiting on God to bless us when everyone else seems to be getting ahead. With social media bombarding us with “everyone” living amazing lives, it’s hard not to compare yourself. You look at where you are and where everyone else is and you question God.

We ask God: “where are my blessings?”, “why haven’t you opened the door for me?”, “when is it going to be my time God?

I’ve been plagued with the same thoughts and have bombarded God with the same questions. I know what it’s like to get weary waiting on God. I know what it’s like to be on the brink of losing hope.

I was recently listening to a message from Pastor Todd that a friend of mine sent to me. The message couldn’t have come at a better time! God, always finds a way to get a message to you when you need it. I was feeling “some kind of way” and I just couldn’t pinpoint it until I heard this message! He was talking about waiting on God, being patient, obedient, and finishing the last thing God told you to do. He was speaking to an audience of one 🙋🏾‍♀️ who had become discouraged and disenchanted by life’s circumstances.

It was a message that hit me like a bag of bricks. I had become impatient waiting on God again. I had become weary of doing the right thing and not seeing the fruit of my labor.

Do you know what God told me? Stop looking at what the world has and values because He has so much more for me (us)!

I realized that God’s blessings don’t often line up with what we see or with what we know. The word of God tells us that He is able to do more than we can think or imagine. God’s blessings are not to satisfy you temporarily but rather eternally! God wants to give you the stuff that will last, not what this microwave society has to offer. “Likes” on Instagram isn’t going to pay your child’s tuition; God wants to do more than enhance your Instagram following, He wants to enhance you!

He wants you to have the stuff to sustain what He wants to give you. These are the blessings that we sometimes overlook because they aren’t acknowledged by the world. How many people are going to cheer for you because you’ve matured spiritually? Like: Yas girl, I see you out here not cursing people out like you used to 👏🏾 . Not many people!

You want to own a business? That’s great but do you have the character to sustain it? You want to get married, so do I but are we spiritually equipped to handle that ministry? The only way we will sustain the things we have been praying for is if we patiently allow God to build us up. We cannot purchase God’s blessings: peace, love, joy, hope, discernment, wisdom and love. These blessings will carry us further than any thing this world has to offer us.

It’s best to wait on God best than to give into the world’s concept of success. “Worldy” success only leads to temporary happiness. The world is not concerned on whether or not you have peace they just encourage you to chase after success. The world isn’t concerned about whether you have the wisdom to manage money they rather you chase after it!

Don’t despise where you are now! Don’t be enticed to leave God and chase after the world’s blessings. Let God do the work to build your foundation. Lay low for a while and let God build you up. Let God equip you with the stuff.  God is blessing you in ways that man can’t see NOW but won’t be able to deny later.

Prayer: God, I’ve become so impatient waiting on you! I’ve become so weary waiting on you. I pray that you will see my heart’s desire to wait and my flesh’s response of being impatient. Although I know you have the best plans for me, sometimes it gets rough; help me to focus on you. Lord, show me that you have great plans for me so my heart could be at rest. Comfort me right now with the knowledge that all things I’m experiencing are working together for my good! Help me not to fall into the pit of comparison by keeping my eyes focus on you.

I love the statement “microwave society” . It is so easy to let the flesh win. So easy to listen to society, but patience and obedience is what God wants us all to have. Wait on him and all things shall work in his time, not ours! Great read.

It’s the truth girl ! That is how we all want things; we have been kinda trained that way! Yes, that is what He desires of us and I desire that for myself too! Thank you for stopping by!

I love how we try and make it seem that we are not easily affected by what we see and it’s totally the opposite! God has never done things on our time; we should be used to it by now but we clearly aren’t! God wouldn’t be God if He didn’t do it on His timing. Funny thing is, it feels so perfect when the arrival of our blessings shows up! Thank you for this message, which serves as a reminder to wait on God because when you do, the blessing will be more than we can fathom! XO
